Vertical marketing systems depend on inputs from different channel levels where one stage must wait for others before proceeding with decisions. A single decision such as a price change, stock update, or promotion plan cannot move forward until each level reviews and confirms its part, which slows the overall decision cycle across the channel. This waiting at every stage increases response time, delays actions in the market, and limits how quickly the system can react to demand or competition changes.
